Nintendo Co., Ltd. have applied for a new SUPER NES trademark in Japan for purposes including video game program, downloadable video game program, video game cartridges, handheld electronic game machine, video game machines, controllers for game consoles, arcade video game machines, and more. Retro Freak Basic pre-orders open 

Pre-orders are open for the Retro Freak Basic which was announced last week by CYBER Gadget. The Retro Freak Basic plays Super Famicom and SNES cartridges as well as SD Cards with HDMI output. The games also come with a ‘Quick save function’ and the console is compatible with all SNES controllers.

Due to ship on 28 February 2018, the Retro Freak Basic is available in two models: the Economy Set (pre-orderable here) at a lower price but barebones or the Standard Set (pre-orderable here) which comes with controller and HDMI cable. You can also pre-order the Arcade Stick for Retro Freak here.

SNES Classic announced for North America and Europe 

Nintendo of America have announced the Super Nintendo Entertainment System Classic Edition for North American release on 29 September 2017 priced at $79.99. 21 games are included with Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, F-Zero, Super Metroid, Star Fox 2 (yes, the unreleased sequel), Street Fighter II Turbo, Super Punch-Out!, Super Castlevania IV, Donkey Kong Country, Mega Man X, Kirby Super Star, Final Fantasy III, Kirby’s Dream Course, Star Fox, Yoshi’s Island, Super Mario RPG, Contra III, Secret of Mana, Earthbound and Super Ghouls ‘n’ Ghosts. 

Edit: it’s been confirmed for Europe (as the SNES SNES ‘Nintendo Classic Mini’ instead of ‘Classic Edition’ on the same day but with the Super Famicom design and the same line-up of games as North America. Due to time difference, expect a Japanese announcement in a few hours time. Pictures of both models added below…
