After this year’s event was cancelled just last month, Entertainment Software Association have announced that E3 2021 will take place June 15～17, 2021, if all goes to plan. ESA say next year’s event will be “reimagined”. There’s no more word on whether there will still be an online event this year to replace the actual event. Nintendo Considering Various Ways to Engage With Fans
Nintendo have issued a statement to GameSpot in response to the COVID-19 outbreak and on moving forward in keeping fans posted about game related activities. This is an extension of what we posted yesterday, with Nintendo saying “We are considering various ways to engage with our fans and will have more to share as the year continues.” Full statement added below. Nintendo have issued a statement to Polygon regarding the cancellation of E3 2020 (see this post) stating: “Nintendo supports the ESA’s decision to cancel this year’s E3 to help protect the health and safety of everyone in our industry — our fans, our employees, our exhibitors and our longtime E3 partners.” [Thanks, GoNintendo]
Entertainment Software Association are set to announce that E3 2020 will be cancelled due to coronavirus concerns, as reports Bloomberg. The event was scheduled to be held from June 9-11. An official announcement will be made at 09:30 PT. ESA are “exploring options for an online E3 event this summer.”
Both E3 and EVO are to go ahead as things stand. E3 organiser Entertainment Software Association told Vice: “Given what we know at this time, we are moving ahead full speed with E3 2020 planning.” EVO president Joey Cuellar also tweeted: “There are no plans to cancel or postpone Evo 2020. See you in Vegas!” E3 2020 takes place from June 9-11. EVO 2020 takes place from July 31-August 2.
The Electronic Software Association (ESA) has confirmed that Nintendo will be attending E3 2020 this year despite not previously appearing on an early list of attendees.
