Kiki Kaikai Sequel Coming to Switch
The next TENGO PROJECT game has been revealed as an all-new Kiki Kaikai sequel coming to Nintendo Switch in the near future.

Natsume Atari will publish a new Kiki Kaikai game, tentatively titled Kiki Kaikai Kuromanto no Nazo, for Nintendo Switch, as reports Ryokutya. The Kiki Kaikai series saw its first title release in 1986 as a topdown multi-directional shooting game, first releasing in the arcades, and later ported to MSX2, Famicom, and sometime after, PC Engine.

Two Super Famicom sequels released in the 1990s which were localised as Pocky & Rocky 1 and 2. A fourth title, Kiki Kaikai Advance (Pocky & Rocky with Becky), also released on Game Boy Advance, and is available on the Wii U Virtual Console. The original arcade game is also available on Nintendo Switch as part of Hamster’s Arcade Archives series.

This is the third TENGO PROJECT game after THE NINJA WARRIORS ONCE AGAIN and WILD GUNS Reloaded, which are both also available for Nintendo Switch. Programmer Toshiyasu Miyabe tells Weekly Famitsu that the game may seem like a remake, but is in-fact a completely new work, and is full of multiple new elements.

Edit: More details have emerged of the game which is tentatively titled Pocky & Rocky 2021 for the western localisation. No release date nor price have yet been revealed but check out the first screenshots on this post, the teaser scan from Weekly Famitsu magazine here, the teaser website here, and the teaser trailer below…
