Monday Update:New Nintendo Switch Model Launches On 30 August In Japan, Plus Much More News!

Nintendo announced that the new Nintendo Switch hardware model with improved battery life will launch in Japan on 30 August, with reservations for the Nintendo Switch Lite also opening on the same date. ASTRAL CHAIN also launches on the 30th.

● The free Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order update on 30 August which adds Colossus and Cyclops will also add alternate costumes for Captain Marvel (Ms. Marvel), Incredible Hulk (Planet Hulk) and Spider-Man (Symbiote Suit). Announcement video in a Marvel Minute here.

● Pikii announced a one year anniversary update to Blade Strangers adding Aban from 1001 Spikes, Piaa from Doki Doki Poyatchio, and another character from the Umihara Kawase series.

● Bandai Namco Entertainment apologised for retail shortages for Tsuri Spirits Nintendo Switch Version and said that the next shipments will come between later August and early September.

● Ratalaika Games have finished the 2D game editor Construct 2 for Nintendo Switch and, alongside Shinyuden, are looking for developers wishing to port games to Switch at the Tokyo Game Show.

● Q-Cumber Factory announced the 2D action game Vorpal Rabbit Sabers for release on Nintendo Switch.

● MUTAN will be updating Goonya Fighter shortly, adding online rankings.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp saw Lottie’s Moving Up classes added to Happy Homeroom, the Go for the Goals event, Blathers’s desk available to craft, and a return of Celeste’s telescope. Check out pictures of the owls here.

Dragalia Lost saw Ezelith’s and Orion’s limited-time stories added to the Valentine’s Confections story event revival, the Brunhilda’s Trial double drops event, plus a gift of 50,000 eldwater. Tomorrow will see the next Summon Showcase: Dragon Special begin. Check out the new appearance rates and the featured dragons here.

Fire Emblem Heroes saw Summoning Focus Voting Gauntlet (featuring Berkut: Purgatorial Prince, Hinoka: Blue Sky Warrior, and Hector: General of Ostia), Summoning Focus: Weekly Revival 12 (featuring Mia: Lady of Blades, Dorcas: Serene Warrior, and Lute: Prodigy), and Allegiance Battles Quests, with Legendary Hero (Julia: Crusader of Light) arriving on 28 August (video here), and Voting Gauntlet: Brave Rivalries starting on 29 August.

● Nintendo Co., Ltd. applied for a Switch Lite trademark in Japan for the upcoming portable. Check out the actual application here.

GEO rankings for the past week have OKINAKI at #1 on PS4 and #3 on Switch with Super Mario Maker 2 at #2 and Fire Emblem: Three Houses at #4.

COMG! reservations have Pokémon Sword/Shield with 255 pts and Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition with 63 pts. This week’s charts have Tsuri Spirits Nintendo Switch Version at #1 with 16 pts. ONINAKI is at #3 (PS4) and #6 (Switch) with 13 pts and 10 pts respectively. TSUTAYA have the same top four as GEO.

● Check out this month’s Nintendo Dream Most Wanted charts here with Pokémon Sword/Shield on top and four new entries featured. The readers of the magazine also voted for their favourite Summer character with Mario winning. Check out the full top 10 here.

Nintendo Co., Ltd. stock dropped today by -1,160 (2.83%) in Japan to close trading for the day at 39,820.00 JPY.

● The Nintendo booth at PAX West will include playable The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, Luigi’s Mansion 3, Minecraft Dungeons, DAEMON X MACHINA, Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition.

Nintendo of Europe will no longer accept credit cards to add funs on the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U eShops from September 2019. This hasn’t been confirmed for North America nor Japan at time of posting.

● Koei Tecmo Games will announce a new Omega Force developed game later this week with Weekly Famitsu posting the first full feature. Check out the teaser trailer here.
