PlatinumGames Announce Partnership With Tencent

It appears PlatinumGames‘ big news for 2020 that they have teased on multiple occasions is a partner with Tencent Holdings Limited which has invested capital in the company in order to help PlatinumGames move into self-publishing. President Kenichi Sato says this investment has “no effect on the independence of our company, and we will continue operations under our current corporate structure.” The company are expected to reveal more news on Bayonetta 3 soon.

Nintendo Switch Dated For China

Nintendo have announced that Tencent Corporation will release Nintendo Switch hardware in Japan on 10 December 2019 with the suggested retail price of 2,099 RMB ($297). A trial version of New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe Edition is pre-installed with the full game also available at launch priced at 299 RMB. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Mario Odyssey will launch over the next few weeks. Nintendo Switch Lite is also being prepared for the Chinese market. Other first party games being prepared include Mario Tennis Aces, Super Mario Party, Kirby Star Allies, Yoshi’s Crafted World, Pokémon Let ’s Go! Pikachu / Eevee, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild. Images and video added below…

Switch Edges Closer to Chinese Launch

Nintendo Switch is even closer to receiving an official release in mainland China with the official packaging leaking online. Tencent Want to Create Nintendo Character Games

Tencent “hope to create console games with Nintendo characters, and learn the essence of making console games from Nintendo engineers”, a company official told The Wall Street Journal, when relaying plans for expansion into the U.S. and European console markets. Tencent are set to be the official distributors of Nintendo Switch in China once the console is fully approved for domestic sale.
