Nintendo have updated Super Mario Maker 2 to Version 1.1.0 which adds online co-op and versus multiplayer with people on your Nintendo Switch friends list. You can also choose courses to play from your locally saved list in Coursebot. Future updates have also been promised. Full patch notes added below…

Nintendo Co., Ltd. have applied for a new “Information Processing” patent in Japan. The patent aims to provide an information processor capable of easily performing collision determination processing such as objects with acute angles in games such as slopes in Super Mario Maker 2 (which is used by Nintendo as an example). Nintendo are currently carrying out a bit of server maintenance to Super Mario Maker 2 where the online functionality is currently inaccessible. Maintenance is scheduled to end at 12:00 JST (20:00 PT). I’ll update this post once it’s back and if anything has changed!
Edit: maintenance is now complete. There are no new in-game notifications.
