Final Fantasy XV Director Hajime Tabata has announced he has resigned from Square Enix and Luminous Productions effective 31 October 2018. Tabata says he will start his own business and has a new project planned for the near future.
Takashi Mochizuki of The Wall Street Journal asked Square-Enix about the success of OCTOPATH TRAVELER at the company’s earnings press conference, with the game exceeding sales expectations, achieving a higher than average ratio of digital sales, and that we can expect games ‘similar’ to Octopath Traveler in the future. Square-Enix also say that Octopath is a Switch exclusive, with the console being a ‘good platform’ for likeminded games.

Game Informer recently spoke with Square-Enix’s Tomoya Asano who told them that “There are several other [original] titles that we’re currently working on for Switch” in addition to Octopath Traveler. Further information will be given in the future.
Kat Bailey of USgamer recently spoke to Seiken Densetsu producer Masaru Oyamada about a number of subjects including the possibilities of the Seiken Densetsu 2: Secret of Mana remake on Nintendo Switch: “We’re aware that people are desiring a Switch version, and we will make an effort to see what is feasible in the future, though nothing is

Square Enix have announced a brand new JRPG Lost Sphear for Nintendo Switch from the I Am Setsuna team, Tokyo RPG Factory due for released in Fall 2017. This is from Nintendo of America (where it is scheduled for localisation in early 2018): “As an ominous power threatens the fabric of reality, a young man chosen by destiny must arise to face a phenomenon never seen before.” Website at the source and trailer below…
Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda recently spoke with Nikkei saying that they have currently released I Am Setsuna and Dragon Quest Heroes I・II for Nintendo Switch and will release Minna de Wai Wai! Spelunker and Project OCTOPATH TRAVELER in the future (plus Seiken Densetsu Collection and Dragon Quests X and XI).
Matsuda says that “The more platforms are good for content makers. We would like to have success on Switch. In addition to developing new titles, we also want to transplant what we can do with existing game titles more and more.”
Matsuda also states that they are focusing more on Nintendo Switch than the other new game platforms such as Xbox Scorpio, Windows 10 and Google Tango. “It is again Switch, which I am paying attention to recently.” Thanks to zeromcd73 for the heads-up!
The website has opened for the full sequel to the amazing Bravely Default and the first screenshots are available. The new character (pictured) is from the Moon and is called Satan Buster Magnolia Arch, such an infinitely cooler name than Tiz. Sadly there’s no release date nor price announced yet but expect Bravely Second in 2014, only on 3DS.
