Chikara Saito, who directed Dragon Quest X from 2013, said in today’s Dragon Quest XI S Official Live Broadcast that he is developing a new original game for consoles. The story is set in the near future, it’s not a not sports game, it’s currently at prototype phase still, and has not yet been confirmed for product. A “10th Anniversary Special Project” livestream has been announced for the Nintendo DS game Dragon Quest IX Hoshizora no Moribito with guests including Producer Ryutaro Ichimura and the Directors Akihiro Hino and Jin Fujisawa. The broadcast is set for 11 July at 21:00 JST (05:00 PT, 08:00 ET, 13:00 BST, and 14:00 CET).

Final Fantasy XV Director Hajime Tabata has announced he has resigned from Square Enix and Luminous Productions effective 31 October 2018. Tabata says he will start his own business and has a new project planned for the near future.
Takashi Mochizuki of The Wall Street Journal asked Square-Enix about the success of OCTOPATH TRAVELER at the company’s earnings press conference, with the game exceeding sales expectations, achieving a higher than average ratio of digital sales, and that we can expect games ‘similar’ to Octopath Traveler in the future. Square-Enix also say that Octopath is a Switch exclusive, with the console being a ‘good platform’ for likeminded games.
