Weekend Update with Reggie interview notes, Switch at one million, new Sega games trademarked, plus more news!
● Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aimé recently spoke with Waypoint. A few notes, on company priorities: “we see Switch as number one priority, followed very closely by the Nintendo 3DS”, on Animal Crossing: “It’s an application that is going to launch this year” and on games that are going to be available between now and the end of the holiday season: “We’ve got that great pace of content, and I can tell you there’s more to be announced.”
● Dengeki yesterday reported that Nintendo Switch hardware has surpassed one million (1,038,439 to be exact) sales in Japan. Expect the other two trackers (Media Create and Famitsu) to confirm next week.
● Sega Games Ltd. have applied for trademarks for Kyoutou Kotoba RPG (Combat Words RPG), Kotodaman, 3D Tie-up and Code of Joker Pocket Re:Birth.
● Bandai Namco Entertainment are re-releasing the Run For Money sequel Cho Tousouchuu Atsumare Saikyou no Tousousya Tachi as part of their 3DS ‘Welcome Price!!’ collection on 3 August 2017 for ¥3,024.
● Konami have released a demo on the 3DS eShop for 100% Pasukaru Sensei: Perfect Paint Bombers with 30 plays and requiring 525 blocks. The game is also available to pre-load priced at ¥5,378.
● This is from Dr. Serkan Toto on Twitter: “Happened after yesterday Japan time, local securities firm Mizuho increased Nintendo’s price target from 44k to 52k yen. Stock rose 2.78%.”
● A set of 24 ’Sonic Pixel Artwork and Sounds’ stickers are now available in the LINE app plus all Pokémon stickers are half-price until 27 June.
● And Nintendo Life recently interviewed the Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino asking him why he chose 3DS over Switch for Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy: “The reason why we didn’t bring it to Switch is because we hadn’t started development for the Switch at the time that we were actively working on this game” although for the future: “we’ll look into maybe porting it to Switch and making the next game in the series on the Switch.”
