Nintendo Switch Updated

The Nintendo Switch system has been updated to Version: 7.0.1 which includes: “General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience”, and more specifically:-

  • Resolved an issue where the Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! games cannot reconnect to the Pokémon GO app if the game software was closed after pairing with the app.

Shiny Meltan Appears!

The Shiny version of the Mythical Pokémon Meltan has been discovered and will appear for a limited time until 05 March (23:59 PT on 04 March). Shiny Meltan will only appear when a Mystery Box is opened in Pokémon GO with waiting time reduced to three days. Shiny Meltan can be evolved into Shiny Melmetal! Both Shiny Pokémon pictured below…

Pokémon Let’s Go Updated

The Pokémon Company have updated Pokémon Let’s Go! Pikachu/Eevee to Version 1.0.1 which fixes numerous bugs including the issue where the Pokémon received through Mystery Gift does not get registered in the Pokédex when exiting the game without saving. The Pokémon’s Markings and Judge function’s □ and ☆ orders were reversed. It has now been changed to match.

Game Freak Want To Surprise Players In 2019

In Weekly Famitsu Issue No.1570, Game Freak posted the above New Year’s card with Shigeru Ohmori saying that Game Freak will continue to challenge players in 2019 and that they would like to “surprise everyone”. Buy a physical copy of Weekly Famitsu here and see all 52 New Year’s cards!

Pokémon Let’s Go Beats Persona Q2!

This week’s Media Create charts saw Pocket Monsters: Let’s Go! Pikachu/Eevee sell a further 94,753 in Japan (totalling 918,459) beating Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth (which sold 79,747) to retain the top spot. Nintendo Switch was the best-selling hardware for the 38th consecutive week with 120,546 units sold, whilst Nintendo 3DS sold 10,435.

Pokémon Spirits Coming To Smash

From 14 December, if you have play data of Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee on your Nintendo Switch, you’ll automatically unlock a Partner Pikachu or Partner Eevee Spirit for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (corresponding to which version of the game you have)! Both will also be added to the game at a future date by completing challenges.

Nintendo Switch Sets New Records 

Nintendo Switch set two new records in the United States from Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday: becoming both the best-selling Nintendo console in U.S. history for the five-day period (beating even the Wii), and having its best-selling week ever in the U S. over the same period, growing 115% compared to the same period in 2017, and achieving more than 8.2 million units sold in the U.S. since launch.

Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!/Eevee! have sold more than 1.5 million combined in the U.S. since their 16 November launch with Super Mario Party surpassing lifetime U.S. sales of 1 million units becoming the fifth million-selling first-party Nintendo Switch game in the U.S. alone (joining The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey and Splatoon 2).
