Penguin-kun Gira Gira WARS scans 

City Connection have announced a modern remake of the 1985 action game Penguin-kun WARS (Penguin Wars/King of the Zoo) for the Nintendo Switch entitled Penguin-kun Gira Gira WARS and due this Fall in Japan developed by Naughty. The basic gameplay of the original remains intact with you controlling an animal aiming to throw a total of 10 balls at your opponent’s side or even at your opponent within a 60 second time-limit! 

The game adds a Story mode where you can fight against ‘boss-like characters’, Multiplayer (either four-players can compete on a single Switch or online) and special rules where you can throw bombs instead of balls. Like the original, the game features multiple playable characters, each with varying abilities. Here are the five characters above (clockwise starting from Jeff the Sheep – top middle) kindly translated by Kite Stenbuck for the translation.

Jeff: A timid sheep with negative thinking who manages the tavern. He goes into panic easily.

Cathy: A chilly idol panda who won’t forgive anything that stands out more than herself.

Alex: A speed-mania sloth who always runs on the highway with an easygoing look.

Dylan: An active and popular capybara. He’s also unexpectedly very passionate.

Samuel: A koala with many mysterious speeches and conducts. There are also rumors that he can float in the sky.
