Miitopia Direct live thread

Welcome to our live coverage of the new Tomodachi Collection-style game for Nintendo 3DS – Miitopia! The Direct is scheduled to start at 20:00 JST (11:00 GMT) and will be 16 minutes long. The actor Ryunosuke Kamiki will be presenting. I’ve embedded the livestream below…

● And it begins! Long day in the office! I’ve literally got shivers waiting for it to kick in! Kamiki is here! Or I think it’s him. He’s dating another girl. Weird drama! Woman gets an iMessage. Neko stickers! This is truly something different for Nintendo. The woman’s 3DS talks and has lit up. And she’s in her game as a Mii!

● Looks like Tomodachi Collection as expected but RPG mode with a battle and HP. The Miis faces have been sucked off as in the previous footage. The Evil Monster Mii is her boss! The game looks like a full-on turn-based RPG now as she has a party member (I think Kamiki as a Witch Mii). Her work colleagues are other Miis in the game.

● Party of four Miis now so looks like Tomodachi Collection meets old-school Final Fantasy! The game’s Inn sees items to buy. Characters can bond together and increase stats. SO well presented. Resembles Tomodachi Collection’s apartments and I guess customisable (outfits are customisable with Mario, Yoshi, Peach and more).

● Back to RPG mode. Looks really fun. Lots of bonding between players for health bursts/double teams etc. The Evil Monster Boss Mii battle now! And the woman wakes up. It’s all a dream. But she receives an iMessage. Bunny stickers! She picks up her White New Nintendo 3DS LL and it’s back to Kamiki looking as dapper as before and it ends. Watch the presentation in full here.

Miitopia dated, priced and Direct planned

Nintendo’s mystery new game Miitopia will release in Japan on 8 December priced at ¥5,076 (it’s available for pre-load now). This Saturday (5 November) will see a Miitopia Direct at 20:00 JST. An interactive preview has just been uploaded onto the eShop requiring 362 blocks. It looks like an action game similar to a StreetPass title but much grander. Feels like the true sequel to Tomodachi Collection and everything Miitomo failed to be.

The interactive preview sees you choose four Miis (Cat, Knight, Witch and Bishop) plus an evil Villain Mii. There are two game modes: Hero and Friendship. Both seem to feature villainy although the former mode more. The second mode’s’ ‘friendship’ allows a non-sexual companionship/bond between either male and female, male and male or female and female sex Mii. There’s no gameplay as such but screenshots can easily be saved and shared with social media.
