HORI have announced officially licensed Mario Kart wheels with both a Mario Kart Racing Wheel for Nintendo Switch (pictured above) and a Mario Kart Racing Wheel DX for Nintendo Switch (pictured below) for release in Japan this November. Pre-order here and here – use the code JPNINTENDO for 5% off.
The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe online servers are currently undergoing maintenance until 16:30 JST on 18 September (00:30 PT). I’ll update this post once maintenance has finished and if any changes have taken place.

Nintendo have announced that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has sold 17.89 million copies worldwide as of 30 June 2019 and is the best-selling Nintendo Switch game. This does not include the Wii U original. The game originally launched on 28 April 2017 and had sold 16.69 million copies as of the last financial quarter.
This week’s update to the official Nintendo LINE account sees mascot Kinopio-kun look at food from various Nintendo Switch games including Kirby Star Allies, Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe!
A Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Time Trails event will take place at the Nintendo Check-In at Kansai International Airport this weekend to commemorate the release of Yoshi’s Crafted World. The playable course will be Yoshi Circuit, originally from Mario Kart: Double Dash!! In addition, My Nintendo Store goods will be sold at the airport over the weekend.
Nintendo have announced that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has sold 15.02 million as of 31 December 2018. The numbers are worldwide consolidated sales in units life-to-date and include the downloadable versions. The Wii U original has sold 8.42 million.
Nintendo have updated Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to Version 1.7.1 fixing an issue that caused the game to become unresponsive to any input except for the HOME Button. You will be unable to play online until updating and others will need to update too if playing over local wireless or LAN. Via GoNintendo.
Famitsu numbers for the last week of 2018 in Japan have the packaged version of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe selling a further 45,752 units sold to surpass the 2 million mark (2,030,297). Mario & Luigi RPG3 DX (Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr.’s Journey) had a disappointing opening week, only selling 9,178 units.
