KINGDOM HEARTS Melody of Memory
Square-Enix’s upcoming Disney rhythm game KINGDOM HEARTS Melody of Memory will release in Japan on November 11 priced at ¥7,480 and is now available to preload requiring 4.7 GB. The Switch version has an exclusive mode called Free-for-all which features local multiplayer action for up to eight players. Check out our dedicated post here.
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2
The sequel to the meeting between two legendary puzzle games was officially announced with Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 coming to Nintendo Switch on December 10 for ¥5,489. All the previous modes are included with an expanded Online mode, a new story in the Adventure mode, plus an all new Skill Battle mode. Check out our dedicated post here.
World of Tanks Blitz
The free-to-play World of Tanks Blitz released straight after the presentation (requiring 2.8 GB and coming with many in-app purchases). The online multiplayer game features 360 combat vehicles for you to try and Switch players who log-in before September 9th can receive 1,000 gold and an exclusive avatar. Thunder Lotus Games’ upcoming cozy management game Spiritfarer finally got a release date (September 29) where it will be priced at ¥2,980 and require 6.0 GB. The game features beautiful hand-drawn art and animation from the team behind Jotun, and will take upwards of 30 hours to complete. Check out the trailer from the Nintendo Direct mini here.
Taiko no Tatsujin Dokodon RPG Pack
After the great success of the previous Taiko game for Switch, Bandai Namco announced Taiko no Tatsujin Dokodon RPG Pack (Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythmic Adventure Pack) which features two of the 3DS’s three Taiko games, both with an RPG mode. Monster Farm 2
Koei Tecmo Games’ port of the PlayStation One classic Monster Farm 2 (Monster Rancher 2) is set for September 17 release on the Switch eShop priced at ¥2,820. The port comes with an improved battle function and tournament mode, along with 400 monsters included in the game – the highest in the series! A Short Hike
The island-based platformer A Short Hike releases in Japan on September 24 as a digital only release. The game sees you hike, climb, and soar through the peaceful mountainside landscapes of Hawk Peak Provincial Park at your own pace while collecting the game’s hidden treasures and chatting to other hikers. Takeshi and Hiroshi
Finally available on the Japanese Switch eShop after launching in much of the world after the recent Indie World, Takeshi and Hiroshi combines puppet animation and RPGs and features two brothers and their daily life – one a game designer to-be, and the other who can’t wait to play the very next level of the game! Combining all three classic Game Boy SaGa (Final Fantasy Legend) RPGs Sa・Ga COLLECTION (COLLECTION of SaGa FINAL FANTASY LEGEND) is due for worldwide release on the eShop on December 15 for ¥3,100 with a physical SaGa 30th Anniversary BOX (with download code) also coming to Japan. While not as epic as the closure of the first Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase, it did close with the popular horse racing simulation game Derby Stallion which started life on Famicom in 1991 and was first announced for Nintendo Switch in 2017.
