Thursday Update:Switch Maintenance Announced, Plus More News!

● Nintendo’s maintenance schedule for April includes the Nintendo Switch “Distribution of update data” maintenance on April 20/21 and Nintendo eShop “Use of credit card” maintenance the day before. Today saw both Super Mario Maker 2 and Pokémon Sword & Shield maintenance.

● Limited Run Games announced a physical edition of CLANNAD along with a Collector’s Edition. Box art and contents posted here.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4‘s first DLC character will be Charlotte Smoothie who will be available this Summer.

Streets of Rage 4 will add 12 pixel art playable fighters and the retro soundtrack. Check out the retro reveal railer here.

● Zarude’s signature move in Pokémon Sword & Shield was revealed to be Jungle Healing. Check out a couple of screens here.

● Several games shadow dropped on the Japanese Switch eShop this week including Catch a Duck from Oizumi Amuzio, Fly O’Clock VS Edition from Forever Entertainment, and Q-YO Blaster, also from Forever Entertainment. Check out this week’s full Japanese Switch line-up here.

● This week’s Japanese Switch demos are Tsukue de Volleyball from SAT-BOX and Retimed from Stray Fawn.

● Playtonic Games announced April updates to both Yooka-Laylee and Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair. More details posted here.

● Pikii announced the action combat flight simulator Air Missions: HIND as coming to the Japanese Switch eShop this Summer priced at ¥2,750. Japanese trailer posted here.

● Hamster officially confirmed the 1987 Tecmo shot ’em up Arcade Archives Gemini Wing will be coming to Switch but warned some previously announced titles may see delays, although unannounced games may suddenly show up.

● Ellada Games announced the strategy game Spaceland will be coming to on the Japanese Switch eShop on April 23 for ¥2,149 with the preload price of ¥1,719.

● H2 INTERACTIVE announced the topdown racer Super Pixel Racers for release on the Japanese Switch eShop on April 16 for ¥1,507 with the preload price of ¥1,356.

● And eastasiasoft announced the sports arcade game Smoots Summer Games will release digitally for Switch and PS4 in Japan and Asia on June 25. Trailer posted here.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp added the Spring Wall & Floor Collection. Prices and pictures posted here.

Dr. Mario World saw the Dr. Dry Bowser Pack back for a limited time priced at ¥2,440. The virus event also returned for the next week.

Fire Emblem Heroes saw new maps added to Tactics Drills: Skill Studies and Tactics Drills: Grandmaster. The game also updated to Version 4.4.1 fixing an issue with Mjölnir’s Strike from Version 4.3.0.

● This week’s full Nintendo-only Japanese software and hardware charts is posted here with Animal Crossing: New Horizons at 3 million, a new entry for Kotoba no Puzzle Mojipittan Encore, and Animal Crossing: New Leaf – Welcome amiibo climbs four places! This week’s Nintendo-only Famitsu Most Wanted is also posted here with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 topping the most wanted chart and Ushiro topping the newcomers chart.

● The Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) cancelled the NPB eSports Series Splatoon 2 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Nintendo Co., Ltd. (7974.T) stock increased today by +140 (0.32%) in Japan to close trading for the day at 43,730.00 JPY.
