Weekly Update:Nintendo Direct Mini Drops, Plus Much More News!

● An insane week both in and especially out of the gaming world. Nintendo shadow dropped a Nintendo Direct mini on Thursday with the full list of new announcements and (Japanese) presentation at this post.

● The pictured Animal Crossing: New Horizons became the fastest-selling Switch game in Japan with 1,880,626 physical copies sold in three days. Nintendo Switch also sold 392,576 and has overtaken Wii sales in Japan.

ARMS was a focus with the game being free-to-play for a short time for Nintendo Switch Online members, and a representative being the first Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC from Fighters Pass 2.

Bravely Default II still has no definitive release date other than “2020” although a playable demo became available on the Switch eShop worldwide after the Direct dropped.

● The rumoured release date for Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition on May 29 did indeed pan out with a Collector’s Set also announced for release. The game will also include a new chapter, Future Connected.

● Bandai Namco Entertainment had an eventful Direct showing announcing three new Switch games: Namcot Collection for June 18, Mr. Driller Encore for June 25), and Pro Yakyuu Famista 2020 for 2020.

● A second baseball game was announced for Switch with Konami releasing eBASEBALL Powerful Pro Yakyuu 2020 on July 9 and adding amiibo support.

● Two new Nintendo titles are 51 Worldwide Games – a collection of timeless games – for June 5, and the puzzle game Good Job! which released on the eShop straights after the Direct. Ring Fit Adventure also received a huge new update.

● Spike Chunsoft will be porting Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate to Switch later this year with the much rumoured Catherine Full Body for Nintendo Switch port from Atlus coming to fruition on July 7.

● Other new Switch game announcements included the horror adventure game Yoru、Tomosu from Nippon Ichi Software for release on July and the 3D dungeon RPG Mary Skelter Finale from Compile Heart for release on August 27.

● Nintendo Co., Ltd. applied for a new image trademark for the ? Block (application posted here) and registered the Nintendo Switch Lite design (images used posted here).

Inti Creates revealed that they have three new games in development, although gave no indication to what any of them may be.
