Wednesday Update:Mario Kart Launches, Link’s Awakening is No. 1, Shares Plunge, Balloon Fight VR, Plus More News!

● Arguably one of Nintendo’s biggest releases of the year Mario Kart Tour is now available on iOS and Android. Surprisingly the game includes a subscription model (the ¥550/$4.99 Gold Pass) in addition to the expected gacha model. It soon shot up to number one on the Japanese App Store and is on top in 58 different international markets at time of posting. Multiplayer will also be added in a future update and will be crucial in the game maintaining its popularity. Check out the full list of current Characters, Karts, and Gliders here.

● Media Create updated their Nintendo Switch Lite first week numbers from 114,000 to 167,768 units. Famitsu numbers were even higher, at 177,936. These numbers (the second highest for a revision) weren’t enough to drop the stock plunging by -4.32% due to completely absurdist expectations of many investors.

● The latest VR mini-game available on the Nintendo Switch News Channel for owners of the Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 04: VR Kit Toy-Con is a new battle game version of the NES classic Balloon Fight. It’s available now in Japan and likely in the rest of the world soon.

● A five day DAEMON X MACHINA spirit event begins in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate this Friday called Arsenals at the Ready! and featuring the spirits Bullet Walker (Brigadier General), Kloster (Grief), High Line (Gunes Empress), and Radiant Gleam all pictured at this post.

● Nippon Columbia announced the pretty princess game Pretty Princess Magical Coordinate for release on 05 December priced at ¥5,280. The first trailer is expected soon. For now, check out the awesome box art here.

● The mystery Nippon Ichi Software game teased last week is a roguelike RPG called //Void Terrarium (or void tRrLM(); to give it its proper spelling). It’s scheduled for 23 January priced at ¥6,980 + tax, and developed by the Hotaru no Nikki team.

● Cosen will be localising the party game Petoons Party for Japan on 19 December priced at ¥4,840 and including a retail release. Check out the box art and trailer here.

● Warner will be publishing the Fortnite Darkfire Bundle in Japan on 07 November priced at ¥3,240. There will be no cartridge in the box however. Check out the v10.40 patch notes here which includes The Combine, Zone Wars, Explosive Batarang, Shield Bubble, and more.

● 3goo announced they will be publishing the 3D mech-based brawler Override: Mech City Brawl – Super Charged Mega Edition for Switch in Japan on 12 December priced at ¥4,620 (I *think* it maybe digital only). PS4 version trailer posted here.

● H2 Interactive will be publishing the action adventure game Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered for Switch in Japan on 12 December.

● Koei Tecmo Games have already updated the newly released Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout to Version 1.01 adding the Summer Adventure DLC.

● A Dragon Ball FighterZ DLC Trial Campaign will begin on 12 October allowing owners of the game to experience some DLC fighters.

● The only Hamster title this week is the 1981 Konami shoot ’em up Arcade Archives Scramble which is likely to be the last title priced at ¥823 (they increase to ¥839, probably from next week). Check out screenshots here.

● Mediascape announced the puzzle game Marisa And Alice’s Trap Tower will release on the Japanese Switch eShop next week (04 October) priced at ¥1,528 with preloads now live. Promo video posted here.

● Mediascape also announced the metroidvania Rabi-Ribi for release on the Japanese Swich eShop on 17 October with preloads now live at ¥2,430 (the regular price is ¥2,700). Promo video posted here.

● Dorasu shadow dropped the slot machine game Geki J Pachisuro Hana Hana Matsuri!TOP5 Seizoroi SP on the Japanese Switch eShop today priced at ¥2,000.

● Also shadow dropped was Navila Software Japan’s visual novel game Soulslayer priced at ¥980, although is currently on sale at 30% off (¥680).

● Rainy Frog are publishing the 2D platformer JackQuest: The Tale of the Sword on the Japanese Switch eShop next week (03 October) priced at ¥999 as JackQuest Norowareta Ken no Densetsu. Japanese trailer posted here.

● obi hime will be publishing the visual novel A Winter’s Daydream on the Switch eShop worldwide on 08 October with the Japanese price (going by the Xbox listing) being ¥700. Promo video posted here.

● Starsign’s eight pinball game for Switch is Halloween Pinball which release today priced at just ¥300.

● This week’s Japanese Switch preloads not covered above include Tabegoro! Super Monkey Ball (Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD) priced at ¥3,229 (trailer here) and MODEL Debut #nicola priced at ¥6,103 (the regular price is ¥6,782).

● The popular fighting game Goonya Fighter updated to Version 1.0.4 adding the new Amoeba Lab mode where a different battle will take place each fortnight. The game is also currently 74% off priced at ¥700.

● GameTomo announced that Lost Ember is still on course for a 2019 release in Japan, although the Switch version will take a little longer than the other platforms.

● Chorus Worldwide have updated the Switch version of Vambrace: Cold Soul in Japan, fixing several bugs in the game, although adding nothing new.

● And Zodiac Interactive increased the price of Death Coming from ¥750 to ¥800 on the eShop.

Nippon Columbia today removed Mame Goma Happy! Sweets Farm, Mame Goma Yoi ko Marui ko Genkina ko!, Hoppe Chan Minna de Odekake! Wakuwaku Hoppeland!!, Hoppe Chan Punitto Shibotte Daibouken!, JS Girl Doki Doki Model Challenge, Kobitodsukan Kobito Kansatsu Set, Kobito Game Taisen, and My Melody Negai ga Kanau Fushigi na Hako from the Japanese 3DS eShop.

● A new DECO*27 theme released on the Japanese 3DS Theme Shop with the track Shinsekai Annaisho priced at ¥200. Check out the screenshot and trailer here.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp updated to Version 2.6.1 adding a Halloween theme to the App icon, Start-up screen, and Friend list. Check out some of the upcoming halloween items here.

● A good week for Nintendo numbers (despite what the stock market seems to indicate) with The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening debuting at number one with 141,375 units sold and Nintendo Switch hardware at 239,722 units, bringing the total above nine million. Check out the full top 10 here.

● Weekly Famitsu Issue No.1608 review scores include Invisigun Reloaded with 29/40, NBA 2K20 with 32/40, and Habroxia with 25/40. Check out the full list of review scores here.

● Famitsu digital estimates for 29 July-25 August have Goonya Fighter with 45,349, Fire Emblem: Three Houses with 22,863, Obakeidoro! with 15,814, and Super Mario Maker 2 with 12,546.

Nintendo Co., Ltd. stock dropped again today by -1,830 (4.32%) in Japan to close trading for the day at 40,520.00 JPY.
