Monday Update:WSJ Report Two New Switch Models to Launch This Year, Plus More News!

● Today’s daily update is dedicated to the life of Scott Walker (1943-2019).

The Wall Street Journal reports that Nintendo are likely to announce two new versions of the Nintendo Switch console as early as this Summer and they could release as early as a few months later. One of the new versions is said to have enhanced features and targeted at more hardcore gamers. This system is said not to be as powerful as the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One X. The other system is said to be more of a successor to Nintendo 3DS, aiming at the casual gamer with a more affordable price-point, but omitting features such as the HD Rumble function. It wasn’t stated whether the two new SKUs would coexist with the present model, or whether the original version will be phased out. The prices of the two new systems again are unknown at present.

● Konami announced that the baseball game Jikkyuu Powerful Pro Yakyuu will launch for Nintendo Switch on 27 June priced at ¥6,980 with the early purchases being a PawaPuro-kun amiibo card (pictured here along with the box art)

● Success announced an Umihara Kawase Fresh! demo for the Japanese Switch eShop on 28 March with preloads also live that day. Check out the new World Introduction trailer here.

● Arc System Works announced that BLAZBLUE CROSS TAG BATTLE will be updated to Version 1.5 mid-May bringing it in-line with the arcade version with both balance adjustments and DLC characters (Heart Ano, Naoto Kurogana, Kuma/Teddie, and Seth) added.

● Sega Games announced that the classic puzzler SEGA AGES Puyo Puyo will release on the Japanese Switch eShop this week (28 March) priced at ¥999.

● Mechanic Arms said they will only be publishing Little Triangle until 30 April 2019, and another (unnamed) company will publish it from 01 May. Incidentally the two Sokoban titles (Beginners and Light) are 100% coming to Switch, even though the company didn’t reveal the platform on Twitter.

● Eastasiasoft announced they will be publishing 2Awesome Studio’s 3D surreal puzzle game Back to Bed on the Japanese Switch eShop in a few week’s time.Switch trailer posted here.

● ICYMI from the weekend: The Behemoth confirmed that Castle Crashers Remastered will release in Japan this Summer on both Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp saw Katie’s sakura swing as the latest character DLC, again priced at 35- x Leaf Tickets. See a picture of her in my campsite, plus a gif file at this post.

Fire Emblem Heroes saw Tempest Trials+: To Defy the Gods featuring 5★ Special Hero Loki: Spring Trickster, and two Sacred Seals, Warding Stance 1 and Spd/Res Bond 1 on Saturday, and Summoning Focus: Heroes with Bond Skills featuring Hinoka: Blue Sky Warrior, Corrin: Dream Prince, and Corrin: Dream Princess on Sunday.

COMG! rankings have SEKIRO: SHADOWS DIE TWICE at number one with 306 pts, the PS4 version of Super Robot Taisen T has 188 pts while the Switch version has 71 pts. TSUTAYA tells a similar story with Chocobo no Fushigi na Dungeon EVERY BUDDY!trailing both Sekiro and Super Robot Wars. GEO again have Sekiro on top, and report a good sell through for both Super Robot Wars and Chocobo.

Nintendo Co., Ltd. shares decreased by +0.81% today to close trading at ¥30,450.00.

● Athlon Games announced they will be publishing the Nintendo Switch version of Samurai Shodown in Q4 2019. Watch the PAX East 2019 trailer here.

● In the UK charts: SEKIRO: SHADOWS DIE TWICE again opened at number one, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is up one position to number six, and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe remains at number 10.

● A set of Toad Picnic Rewards are now available at the Japanese My Nintendo with a 90cm x 60cm Kinopio Leisure Sheet, a Kinopio Bandana, and a Kinopio Tote Bag, all for 400 Platinum Points each (plus ¥540 for shipping). Check out the pictures at this post.
