Monday News Update With Second Wario Land Trademark In 10 Months, Plus More News!

● The top story is Nintendo Co., Ltd. applying for nine trademarks in Japan for ‘downloadable videogame programs’ with Wario Land being the most notable. This is the second Wario Land-related trademark made by Nintendo within a ten month period, with the other trademark being for Awazon no Hihou implying that Wario Land is indeed coming back, although nothing is confirmed. The other applications are for Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers, Luigi’s Mansion, Mario & Luigi, Metroid, Metroid Prime, Octo, Smash Bros. and WarioWare. All the applications (obviously written in Japanese) have been posted here.

● Arc System Works have announced their Okiraku (Family) series of games that have seen countless entries on Wii, Nintendo 3DS and Wii U will soon be coming to Nintendo Switch!

● Nintendo have updated Splatoon 2 to Ver.2.3.3 fixing an issue when creating a room using the Online Lounge in Salmon Run mode.

● The latest ARMS Party Crash event, subtitled Best Frenemies, saw Max Brass defeat Dr. Coyle 52%-48%.

TorqueL -Physics Modified Edition- has been updated to Ver.1.0.1 adding Video Capture support.

● STUDIO TOKOYO today published the Steam version of the vertically scrolling shooter Mani Yugi TOKOYO. The New Nintendo 3DS version is scheduled for Spring 2018.

Pokémon GO will see both Field Research (which involves spinning nearby PokéStops) and Special Research (tasks from Professor Willow) tasks later this week.

● From COMG! rankings it looks like Kirby Star Allies will be the number one game with 125 pts. Detective Pikachu has 57, Zelda Musou 29 and PriPara 17 (full listings here). Tsutaya also have Pikachu above Zelda but Geo have them the other way round. Kirby is almost assured to see a second week on top.

● Epoch are releasing a Super Mario Baseball Edition game on 9 June priced at ¥7,020 coming with 12 characters. (Small) picture of it over at Famitsu. I’ll make a separate post as soon as I get higher-res images!
