Japanese console market up 172.9% thanks to Switch 

Famitsu report that the domestic Japanese videogame market is up 172.9% in 2017 from 2016 for hardware and 103.8% in software thanks to the success of the Nintendo Switch which was the best selling dedicated game system for the year with 3,407,158 units sold. PlayStation 4 took second place with 1,935,247 units sold, narrowly beating Nintendo 3DS which achieved 1,827,131.

Furthermore, nine out of the top ten best selling retail games for the year (posted below) are all on Nintendo platforms…
