Sumikko Gurashi developer interview

The following is from an interview from Weekly Famitsu issue #1500 with Yoshinao Shimada, producer of Sumikko Gurashi series where he discusses the new Sumikko Gurashi title for Nintendo Switch! Interview kindly translated by Kite Stenbuck. Please feel free to use any of the below but please credit Japanese Nintendo!

Famitsu: What’s the reason for you to choose Nintendo Switch for the platform of your newest game?

Shimada: By looking at questionnaire letters from past games, I understand that there are many people who have been enjoying the world of Sumikko Gurashi with their families. In that case, let’s create a party game that can be enjoyed by everyone! While I’m thinking of that, the Nintendo Switch was released, and I think I’ll be able to do it with this console!

Famitsu: Please tell us the appeal of Sumikko Gurashi: Sumikko Park he Youkoso.

Shimada: This title is a Sugoroku-based party game. Other than the obvious tactics, the contents will also allow you to properly enjoy each mini-game. Furthermore, with the Coins you obtained from Sugoroku mode, you can buy things like room interiors and costume changes. The more you play, the in-game Sumikkos will be able to provide more fulfilling rooms, and you can take a look at their cute livelihoods.

Famitsu: Please leave a message to all our readers that are looking forward to this.

Shimada: The Nintendo Switch still has a big lineup of softwares aimed for users with high intention to play games, but I think this game’s contents can be leisurely enjoyed by anyone from adults to children. When you’re hanging out with your family in the living room, or when you call your friends to your house to play together, I’ll be glad if you would kindly enjoy [this game] with everyone.
