Huge Thursday Update with Sushi Striker, Winning Post 8 and Fatal Fury 2 all announced, plus more news!
● Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido was announced at Nintendo Treehouse as a new Nintendo 3DS puzzle action game scheduled for 2018 release and developed by Indies Zero (who developed the Theatrhythm and Famicom Remix games on 3DS and Wii U amongst many other titles).
● Koei Tecmo have confirmed that Winning Post 8 will release for Nintendo Switch on 14 September priced at ¥8,424 ($76.5) which makes two racing titles releasing on the same date for the same price (Champion Jockey Special being the other). Both titles will interact with each other too.
● Hamster have announced ACA NEOGEO Garou Densetsu 2: Aratanaru Tatakai (Fatal Fury 2) for the Nintendo Switch eShop next week (22 June) priced at ¥823. The following two weeks afterwards should see Metal Slug 2 and Magical Drop II (not necessarily in that order!).
● Nintendo Co., Ltd. shares shot up an impressive 4.29% from yesterday and are now at 36,250 which is the new highest level since October 2008. Investors are clearly impressed with Nintendo’s performance at E3.
● ARMS is now available on the Japanese Nintendo Switch eShop and is currently at number two (behind Minecraft) so a very good start!
● A level 50 Marshadow for Pokémon Sun Moon will be distributed to all viewers (with a 3DS and copy of the game) of the new Pocket Monsters the Movie: I Choose You! from 15 July until 30 September 2017.
● Akihiro HIno of Level-5 told Eurogamer that he is trying to make a Professor Layton game for Nintendo Switch although: “The problem is, the Layton series does a lot with the touchscreen and pointing. So, the problem with the Switch is, if you play on handheld you can do it, but if you put it on the dock… we’re trying to figure out how that would play into it. If we can get around that and figure out a way of doing it, definitely we’re looking into putting the next Layton onto the Switch.”
● Speaking of Level-5, they have announced that the huge free update to Yokai Watch 3 (Sushi, Tempura and Sukiyaki versions) will arrive this Summer adding exclusive Yokai to each version. The fourth Yokai Watch movie Eiga Yokai Watch: Shadow Side Onio no Fukkatsu will also open in Japan from 16 December 2017.
● The final bit of Level-5 news involves their new subsidiary Level-5 comcept who have opened up their new website and are working on a 2018 mobile RPG, Dragon & Colonies. And Keiji Inafune on the 3DS version of Mighty No. 9: “They are not being cancelled, we are still in the process of porting. The porting had to be put on hold for a while due to the other versions being delayed and the recent adjustment we had in comcept. However, everything is back on track now. The developer restarted the porting process in early May, and we estimate to release them within 2017.”
● Phil Spencer of Microsoft told Gamespot regarding Minecraft achievements on Nintendo Switch: “This is a collaborative relationship between Nintendo and I; they don’t have Achievements on their platform. If they want us to, I would love to be able to do it… The relationship with Nintendo is incredibly strong. We obviously did the Mario mash-up pack into Minecraft; that doesn’t happen that often.“
● RCMADIAX announced that they have sold over 80,000 games on the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U eShops worldwide with the top seller being Blok Drop U on Wii U.
● Fire Emblem Heroes tomorrow will see the Legion: Masked Maniac Grand Hero Battle event.
● Nintendo Switch Online Lounge looks like being the new name for the upcoming Online Lobby and Voice Chat app (source).
● The My Nintendo Store had no Nintendo Switch stock today despite Thursday being the typical restocking date. There’s no timetable for them to return (officially it’s ‘as soon as possible’) so check daily!
● Shingeki no Kyojin: Shichi-Kara no Dasshutsu (Attack on Titan: Escape from Certain Death) will see weekly DLC from today with two Special Events this week, three next and three the week after. Each costs ¥540.
● Kadokawa have released a 118 page Splatoon Honobono Ika 4-Koma & Purei Manga comic book featuring illustrations from Kino Takahashi as printed in Weekly Famitsu and priced at ¥972.
● And just confirmed on Nintendo Treehouse is Super Mario Odyssey supporting two-player co-op play with one player controlling Mario and the other controlling Cappy. Check back on the front-page later for any new Treehouse announcements (North American 3DS owners have Miitopia and Ever Oasis demos btw)!
