Wednesday Update with Al Stone RIP, Dragon Quest X news and three 3DS games announced!

Please note this is an early update. I’ll probably post a second update late this evening. Condolences to the family and friends of Al Stone who passed away last Friday. Stone was a pivotal part in the foundations of Nintendo of America.

Dragon Quest X: Inishie no Ryu no Denshou Online will release on Nintendo Switch between Summer and Fall 2017. Dragon Quest X will see version 3.5 on 1 March for Nintendo 3DS, Wii and Wii U and version 4 in the Fall for 3DS, Wii U and Switch. Wii owners will no longer be able to play from version 4 and will be encouraged to upgrade to the Switch version. Version 4 should also mark the final ever Wii U retail release.

Koneko no le 2: Himitsu no Hako Kara Tobideta Yume also released next week courtesy of Orange. This is a sequel to the DSiWare cat adventure game that was recently ported to 3DS. Check out the website at http://orange-app.jp/game/koneko02/

Himouto! Umaru-chan Daratto Puzzle is the final 3DS game for next week which is a puzzle game starring Himouto! Umaru-chan and published by FuRyu.

Pokémon GO will celebrate Pokémon Day with a special promotion where Pikachu will appear in a party hat from 26 February – 6 March and will keep the hat forever.

Chou Kagaku Dasshutsu: Saihate no Cross Eyes (the third Parascientific Escape game) is now available on 3DS along with a demo (830 blocks and 30 plays).

Kaizoku Pop (Pirate Pop Plus) also released in Japan today on both the 3DS and Wii U eShops.

Soldam: Mu Kaika Sengen saw its website open up at http://city-connection.co.jp/soldam2/index.html with the game still planning to release on 3 March on the Switch eShop

New Denpa Ningen no RPG releases on smartphones in Japan on 28 February. Pre-registration ends the day before.

Puzzle & Dragons X updated to version 4.0 today adding new monsters and expanding from seven teams to fifteen.

Doraemon: Nobita no Nankyoku Kachikochi Daibouken scored 29/40 (8/7/8/6) and Subara City scored 33/40 (9/8/8/8) in this week’s Famitsu.

Weekly Famitsu next week will come out a day later to coincide with the Nintendo Switch launch and will include 30 pages of Switch coverage and 42 of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild amiibo will give the following items (Guardian – Anti Guardian arrows and crafting mats, Bokoblin – Clubs, Rider Link – Sword and Saddle, Zelda – Shield and Archer Link – Bow). Thanks to GameXplain. There will also be a set of five Gashapon release by Bandai in late March priced at ¥200 each with two 3D Links, Master Sword, silhouette Link and a ‘Z’ logo.

Miitomo added the first “Loud and proud! Flashy Fashion” Miitomo Drop stage with Colourful Wig with Bows and Hairclips, Heart Parka with Bow Tie, Colourful Skirt with Bows and Bow Tights.

Super Mario Run received a minor update (Version 1.1.2) implementing bug fixes and requiring 167 MB.

Nintendo eShop charts for 3DS see Monster Hunter XX (pre-load), Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3 Professional, Sayonara! Hako Boy!, The Battle Cats POP!, Pocket Monsters Yellow, Dragon Sinker, Subara City, Pocket Monsters Red, Final Fantasy and Chou Kagaku Dasshutsu Story: Zekkai Gouka Kyakusen. Wii U has 5 x Final Fantasy games, 3 x Fire Emblem plus Minecraft and Plantera.
