Nintendo financial notes summary
● President Tatsumi Kimishima says that Nintendo Switch pre-orders are good, they plan to increase production and that they are making a profit on hardware. The console will not come with any software demos.
● Super Mario Run has been downloaded 78 million times with more than 5% (approx 4 million) paying for the full version.
● Pokémon Go has generated profits of around $150 million for Nintendo since launch.
● Pokémon Sun Moon has sold a remarkable 14.69 million worldwide up until 31 December 2016.
● Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS sales are at 2.01 million as of December 2016.
● Nintendo 3DS worldwide hardware sales (6.45 million) for the period up 10% from last year. Software sales (46.78 million) up 20%
● Wii U worldwide hardware sales (0.76 million) down 75%. Software sales (12.48 million) down 45%. Wii U hardware no longer being produced. Only one retail game left.
● No actual numbers for Nintendo Classic Mini Famicom (Mini NES) as of yet although Nintendo say it has achieved “widespread popularity”.
● amiibo sales stand at 6.5 million units for figure-type amiibo over the financial period and 6.6 million units for card-type amiibo.
