Super Mario interview, Animal Crossing November schedule, limited edition 2DS and more!
● The Animal Crossing: New Leaf November schedule sees Harvest Series furniture on sale from 1 – 24 November. Mushrooming Season is 1 – 30 November. 19 November sees the Fishing Tournament from 09:00 – 17:59 (JST) and Awards Ceremony from 18:00 – 20:59. Finally there’s the Harvest Festival on 24 November from 06:00 – 21:59. Don’t forget Halloween on Monday too!
● Speaking of Animal Crossing, I think most people have forgot about the Doubutsu no Mori Direct coming this Wednesday (2 November) which will talk about the upcoming New Leaf update with added amiibo compatibility. No time has been confirmed at time of writing.
● Denpa Ningen no RPG FREE! will see another of its excellent Monster Outbreak events from today until next Saturday (5 November).
● A limited edition Yellow × White Nintendo 2DS with New Super Mario Bros. 2 pre-installed releases in Japan on 15 December priced at ¥12,938.
● An excellent Super Mario Bros. 1 and 3 developer interview (pictured) with Shigeru Miyamoto, Takashi Tezuka and Koji Kondo here. Tezuka and Condo didn’t have a Famicom before working at Nintendo! Minamoto wanted to make the culmination of Famicom cartridges (the FDS released 5 months later). They discuss the origins of large (Super) Mario and the birds-eye view and flying abilities in Super Mario Bros. 3. SMB3 took 2 ½ years to develop with a staff of about 30 people (7-8 worked on the original SMB). Condo noticed the increase in cartridge sizes allowed him more scope in the SMB3 soundtrack
● I didn’t do a million clickbait articles over the President Tatsumi Kimishima Investor Q&A like most as there was little of note other than Nintendo Switch will not be sold at a loss (all other Switch answers will be answered in January so nothing revelatory was said by Kimishima).
● That’s all for now. Thanks everybody for following, have a great weekend and look out for the Vampire Killer review on Halloween!
