● Collectible Badge Center was updated with Daigasso! Band Brothers P, Yu Ayasaki and new Pokémon badges. Again there are three days of free goes! There’s still Baito badges free with each ¥90 spent and a Tortimer Island theme free after ¥180 spent. See all the panels of badges here.
● Nintendo’s official LINE account was updated celebrating the start of the Olympics with Kinopio-kun. See all the pictures here and follow Nintendo at https://line.me/ti/p/%40nintendo
● Nintendo Co., Ltd. stocks closed the week at 20,715. Slightly down from last week although they’ve more-or-less stabilised after the Pokémon GO mania died down.
● In Pokémon GO news: a Facebook post confirms they are looking to improve the three-step feature (effectively confirming it will return). A tweet also confirmed a throw accuracy and escape bug (which I suspected) with a fix coming soon.
● And in Miitomo news: there will be a new Miitomo Drop stage every day for the next 6 days with a daily free game ticket. There will be 3 “Show off your muscles! Sports Superstars” stages and 3 “Anchors aweigh! The World of the Sea” stages. The Miitomo Shop has also been updated and now sells Dragon Wings!
● First day sell-throughout have Etrian Odyssey V with around 60% and Dragon Ball Fusions with around 40% (thanks to hiska-kun).
● Yokai Watch 3 Version 1.2 is now available and adds Android Yamada (plus a few bug fixes)!
● Online rankings in Culdcept Revolt have been published here.
● A Gold Mario code for Mario Kart Grand Prix DX at http://bandainam.co/1qAngpv
● The Pikachu Song video here.
● A Taiko no Tatsujin: Dokodon! Mystery Adventure opening theme is available until 31 August free of charge to all purchasers.
● A promo video for the 3DS version of Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters here.
● TV commercials for Yokai Watch 3 here, here, here and here.
● Shironeko Tennis which recently topped the Japanese iOS charts (ousting Pokémon GO) was downloaded over a million times in a couple of days.
● Kirby and Waddle Dee plushie purses have already sold out at the Kirby Café. I need a Waddle Dee purse dammit!
● I would be remiss if I ignored the latest Nintendo NX rumours altogether. MCV reported that Pokémon, Mario and Zelda games are heading to NX in the first six months of release. Again absolutely no source was published (hence why this has been relegated to my last bit of ‘news’ and not the typical click-bait separate thread of other sites). Let’s address this: Zelda is already confirmed, no shit with the Mario game as there hasn’t been a Mario platformer in ages and every Nintendo console features a Mario game in its launch period. It’s only Pokémon that is relatively unexpected, although with the commonality of Pokémon spin-offs, even this is likely to be technically ‘factual’. Expect many more NX rumours (all with no sources) over the coming weeks.
● That’s all the news for now but check the site later where I’ll be updating the Release Schedule, eShop Sales and Theme Charts plus adding a few new scans!
● Edit: a new Dragon Ball Fusions promo video here and a three hour Etrian Odyssey V video here.
