Detective Pikachu movie, Animal Crossing amiibo support, new Kobito Zukan and much more
● Hollywood Reporter are reporting that Legendary Entertainment (Jurassic World, Hangovers, Steve Jobs, Warcraft etc) have procured rights to the Pokémon franchise with the first (live-action) film being Detective Pikachu based on the 3DS game and will start production in 2017. Universal Pictures will handle distribution outside of Japan and Toho inside Japan (source).
● Nintendo Co. Ltd. shares are up slightly by .85% to a nice round 28. Expect them to bump up further when Pokémon GO finally releases in Japan. Oh, and I finally caught Oddish btw!
● In Splatoon news, Nintendo tweeted: “Announcing the stages for the Final Splatfest! Kelp Dome, Moray Towers and Walleye Warehouse were chosen!”
● Yokai Watch 3 first week sales saw a huge drop from both iterations of Yokai Watch 2 and even opened less than Yokai Watch Busters although the 581,191 opening week will probably still mean the game tops a million.
● Animal Crossing: New Leaf will receive a free update this Autumn with new content and amiibo support. The game will support all Animal Crossing figure type and card type amiibo (in-short, the villager visits your town and may even move in!) plus several other series amiibo including Splatoon.
● Kobito Game Taizen was announced by Nippon Columbia as the third Kobito Zukan game on 3DS. The first amazingly sold over 300,000 although the second bombed. Kobito Game Taizen releases on 6 October priced at ¥5,184.
● Welcome! Pet Hotel was announced by Starsign to release on the Japanese 3DS eShop on 3 August priced at ¥1,000. The game received a retail release in the west as I Love My Pets although digital only in Japan.
● Level-5 will have a huge eShop sale from 27 July – 31 August with Professor Layton and Inazuma Eleven games discounted plus one half-price game to be added. See the (almost!) full list here with the English names added to the frontpage soon. New Professor Layton and Inazuma Eleven games will be announced next week. Watch yesterday’s full presentation here.
● The Pokémon GO and McDonald’s Japan collaboration has been made official with specifics to be announced once the game launches in Japan (source).
● A set of Pokémon Pixel Artwork and Sounds! stickers are now available on LINE for 100 coins/¥240. Go here for pictures of them all!
● Next week’s Weekly Famitsu will have a multi-shooter feature with Splatoon plus questionnaire surveys and sales data. Other games covered in the magazine include Puzzle & Dragons X, Etrian Odyssey V and Monster Hunter Frontier G. Speaking of this week’s, I have several more pages to scan and will re-upload those already scanned shortly at a better rate.
● Another Aikatsu Stars! First Appeal promo video here, a commercial here and a game introduction video here.
● And another Monster Hunter Stories monster introduction trailer with Rathian here.
● And a trailer for the Japanese release of Shift DX here.
● That’s all for now. Check back later for the Collectible Badge Center update, and remember to check out last week’s second badge post (here) where I’ve now added all six of Baito’s yokai of the day!
● Oh and finally, I barely find time to read or unfortunately respond to comments due to time issues but thanks to all for their kind words that I’ve read in some recent re-blogs. You guys, girls and non-specific genders are the greatest!
