Thursday News Update

● Tatakae Butasan has been dated for the eShop for 19 August. Costing ¥864 or ¥600 for the first week, it is a sequel to the old 1987 Jaleco arcade game and features four player online bomber battles. Mechanic Arms are releasing two themes on the same day too.

● I’ve just added Kirby Fighters Z badges from Collectible Badge Center to the frontpage. There’s twelve panels in total and two free goes. No Kirby theme as far as I can make out but they’re bringing the Baito gimmick back with one free (Baito) badge per every ¥90 spent.

● The second series of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer amiibo cards have been postponed from their September release due to the overwhelming success of the first series. Nintendo are spending the time intended on season two cards with reprinting season one.

● PONOS announced that The Battle Cats has surpassed the 200,000 downloads mark on the eShop. It’s currently at #13 on the all-time charts (just behind The Denpa Men) and #3 on the current charts (behind both Happy Home Designer and Cube Creator 3D).

● Gematsu are reporting (via @kazu4281 from Jump Magazine) that Dragon Quest VIII will feature both an alternate ending and have a post-game dungeon after (or if in my case!) you actually beat the game. Dragon Quest VIII releases in less than three weeks!

● Copied and pasted from Gematsu, new characters announced in Project X Zone 2: Brave New World include: Chun-Li (Street Fighter), Ling Xiaoyu (Tekken), Demetri Maximoff and Morrigan Aensland (Darkstalkers), Pai Chan (Virtua Fighter), Hibana (Nightshade) and Alisa Illinichina Amiella (God Eater 2).

● That’s all for now. I’ve caught up with a lot of blogging today including posting the Latest Theme Charts and the Famitsu Most Wanted. Tomorrow I’ll detail the upcoming D3 Publisher eShop sales and whatever news breaks. Now I’m off to happy home design…
