Midweek News Update

image

● First update all week due to the untimely passing of Iwata. Genyo Takeda and Shigeru Miyamoto will remain as Representative Directors at Nintendo (Iwata was the third). No update on the presidency at present. Satoru Iwata’s death was a bile duct growth. His death was actually on Saturday (11 July). The funeral is on Friday (17 July).

Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3 was revealed earlier today. No release date nor price at present.

● On the eShop next week will see Oh! Gatchiman Ultimate which is a collection of 26 games with most coming from Dengeki Bazooka magazine and some exclusive to the compilation, and 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 which will include a co-op mode (both players must own the game).

● Demos for Corpse Party: Blood Covered …Repeated Fear (998 blocks and 10 plays) and Wan Nyan Animal Hospital (975 blocks and just 3 plays) were added today. There’s also 23 new themes with the highlights being three Cooking Mama themes (well she technically gardens in one!).

● In Comgnet sales: Yokai Watch Busters has 964 points (which translated to 688K sales) and Dai Gyakuten Saiban has 146 points (131K sales). In reservations: Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer has 256 points and Dragon Quest VIII has 143.

System Update Version 9.9.0-26J is the same old “Further improvements to overall system stability, system security, and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience”.

● Next week on the eShop will see the first batch of Arc System Works summer sales. I’ll post a separate thread when time allows detailing all the featured games and new prices.

● The three Disney Pixar films on the Japanese 3DS eShop will all be removed on 31 July. Edit: Just an update, sorry – the news is that Inside Head (Inside Out) has been added free on the eShop and will be removed on 31 July. It’s unknown what will happen with the other three films.

● Weekly Famitsu scores see Langrisser Re:Incarnation Tensei at 26/40 and Hoppechan Great Adventure at 28/40.

● That’s all for today. Several posts planned tomorrow but I’ll be operating at a reduced schedule for the rest of the week as every bit of news pales in comparison to Iwata’s passing. Normal service should resume on Monday.
